What to do in the Camden Haven

There's plenty to do in the Camden Haven. You can be as active or relaxed as you like.

The View from Above
There’s no better way to absorb the beauty of the Camden Haven coast than to drive to the top of North Brother Mountain in Dooragan National Park, and drink in the view.  Walking tracks include the easy Rainforest Loop, the moderate Top Track and the difficult Laurieton Track down the hill to Laurieton.

Jolly Nose Hill, accessible only by 4WD, offers a 360º view over Queens Lake and the coast. Alternatively, for a bird’s eye view, jump off North Brother on a tandem paraglide.

By the Water
Everywhere you look there is water to be enjoyed.  Choose a swimming spot to suit - vigorous surf at Rainbow and Grants Beaches, quiet clean Pilot Beach, the crystal clear creek at Swans Crossing, netted tidal pools at Dunbogan and North Haven and Council pools at Laurieton and Kendall.

Launch a canoe from the historic wharf at Kendall to paddle down the river.  Sail on Queens Lake or tramp the lakeside walking track from Lakewood to Laurieton.  Picnic at Henry Kendall Reserve where kids can swim in Stingray Creek.  Hire a BBQ boat.  Fish from the breakwall or the beach.  Dine in Dunbogan Reserve on fish and chips or a dozen oysters and a bottle of local wine.

Holidays of Yesteryear
Remember family summers spent at the beach?  Relive those days of sun, surf, sand, zinc cream and melting ice-creams.  Stay in a cabin, a self-contained flat or cottage, a motel.  Camp in a park or pitch a tent amongst the kangaroos for a complete get-away.

When the sun moves north and the air cools a little, savour a meat pie beside the inlet.  Explore the rock platform at Washhouse Beach.  Stroll in the Reflective Garden at St Peter the Fisherman Church.  Drive through Middle Brother National Park to Benaroon and hug one of the largest coastal blackbutts in NSW.

The Eventful Camden Haven
There’s more to the Camden Haven than water, beaches, weather and the great outdoors.  It’s fast becoming known for its cultural offerings and its eclectic markets.

In April, come to the Camden Haven Music Festival and enjoy an exciting variety of music styles, a friendly atmosphere and typical country hospitality.

Check out the Camden Haven Arts Council and the Kendall National Violin Competition programs for outstanding musical performances that will entertain you all year.

And the Watermark Literary Society runs a program of literary events with the Watermark Literary Muster including every second year
